Fourth Co-Evaluation Workshop in Gżira
April 2025
On 3rd April 2025, our Gżira Pilot held its fourth and final co-creation workshop, bringing together a diverse and engaged group of stakeholders to co-evaluate the implementation of their 3 Visionary Solutions. The event took place at Stella Maris College in a hybrid format, with eight participants attending in person and four joining online.
The workshop welcomed a wide range of participants, including: researchers involved in wellbeing and citizen science research projects, environmental and cultural managers representing regional councils, a representative from a sustainable mobility NGO, artists, architects, public authorities and local residents of Gżira.

A highlight of the event was the participation of individuals who were instrumental during the co-design phase, particularly in organizing the pop-up parks and designing the St Clare playscape. Their return to the workshop reflected strong community engagement and continuity. The overall feedback was very positive—both regarding the implementation of the Visionary Solutions and the perceived impact of the project. While challenges during implementation were acknowledged, a representative from the local administration noted that VARCITIES served as a valuable stepping stone. It enabled the local council to access further funding through other grants and demonstrated the potential of such initiatives in a context where social acceptance of green infrastructure remains limited.
Following the workshop, some participants joined the project team for a short site visit. The walk included stops at the community garden at Stella Maris, St Clare Gżira Primary, and the micro-greening initiative at Rue D’Argens.
The Gżira Pilot team extends heartfelt thanks to all who participated in the workshop and shared their time, expertise, and feedback!
