The 2021 Excellence Award of the Technical University of Crete was awarded to Dean Prof. Dionysia Kolokotsa in recognition of her research work in the field of Energy Management in the Built Environment. Prof. D. Kolokotsa enjoys high international recognition and has participated in a large number of research projects in the field of smart and green cities, energy-saving technologies, buildings, and communities with zero energy balance and of decreasing the carbon footprint in the built environment.

The awarding was taken place during the Doctoral and Postgraduate Diplomas Award Ceremony, on Friday the 10th of December, 2021 while Prof. D. Kolokotsa delivered the keynote speech, presenting also the VARCITIES project. The presentation focused on Chania’s pilot case study and the two Visionary Solutions of the Mobile Urban living Room and the Sensors on public bikes and bike stations.
