On March 19, 2024, our Pilot City Novo Mesto organised a Partner City Webinar with its four partner cities Herceg Novi (Montenegro), Prijedor (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Torun (Poland), Bühl (Germany) and Langenhagen (Germany) to present their pilot.

In a one-hour on-line presentation, Peter Geršič, who leads Novo Mesto pilot, introduced the representatives of the partner cities with basic information about the project, about the partners, goals and envisaged solutions.

Then, P. Geršič delved into the details of their Visionary Solutions, a combination of nature-based solutions, digital solutions and socio-cultural solutions, including brownfield remediation and greening with plant species indigenous to the nearby Natura 2000 areas, creating of sustainable forest trails, interconnectedness of sports, recreational and therapeutic facilities, integrated management of the facilities and IoT solutions for measuring the H&WB being of visitors.

In the end of the presentations, P. Geršič highlighted the outcomes that VARCITIES has brought to the residents of Novo mesto and presented the opportunities that VARCITIES brings to interested cities, such as knowledge exchange, replication and up-scaling of digital solutions, and preparation for new ideas for future EU funding.
