D8.2 VARCITIES Business Plan
Work Package 8, led by INLECOM Systems Ltd, focuses on coordinating and protecting the Intellectual Property, guiding the filing of minimum patents with the the ultimate goal of protecting and retaining the commercially strategic IP “for Europe” and “within Europe”, in turn giving commercialising actors within the consortium a competitive advantage on a worldwide stage.
Specifically,T8.2 delivers commercial brokerage and outreach through targeted events and strategic stakeholder engagement, feeding market insights into T8.3, which develops a comprehensive business plan and commercialization strategy for VARCITIES innovations. D8.2 documents this plan to guide post-project exploitation and ROI.

D8.2 presents VARCITIES Business Plan and Commercialization Strategy, outlining pathways to bring Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) and the Health & Well-being (H&WB) Platform to market. The plan focuses on long-term viability, scalability, and commercial potential, ensuring that the project’s innovative solutions transition effectively from pilot studies to real-world, urban applications with tangible societal and economic value.
The report highlights VARCITIES’ integrated approach, combining digital, social, and cultural innovation with nature-based interventions across seven pilot cities. Key components include Visionary Solutions co-developed with local stakeholders and SME-led technological innovations in IoT, data analytics, citizen engagement, and digital monitoring, designed to enhance urban health and well-being.
Structured marketing pathways are provided for SMEs and pilot cities, including tailored business plans, technology roadmaps, market analyses, and funding strategies. The deliverable identifies ten Key Exploitable Results (KERs) and details the business case for the H&WB Platform, ensuring scalable and sustainable deployment across Europe. By bridging environmental sustainability, digital health, and smart city innovation, VARCITIES delivers a replicable model for city-level interventions that generate measurable social, environmental, and economic impact.
