Town Hall Event in Castelfranco Veneto – Festival VARCITIES

On 5th of May, our Pilot City Castelfranco Veneto organised its Town Hall Event at its pilot site, the Villa Revedin Bolasco.  Nearly 180 individuals, including citizens, families, stakeholders, and those interested in VARCITIES, had the opportunity to spend an entire afternoon exploring the historic garden of the Villa and the dedicated spaces for research, social, environmental, well-being, and urban regeneration activities conducted since September 2020 as part of VARCITIES.

In the early part of the afternoon, attendees had chance to observe and actively participate in demonstrations at nine different interactive booths presented by representatives of the Pilot site: Municipality of Castelfranco Veneto, the University of Padova, UniSMART, and Eurac Research.

Experts and researchers presented and showed an update of the 6 Visionary Solutions implemented in Castelfranco Veneto, specifically elements related to:

  • the innovative technologies used to make the internal path of the garden safer; 
  • how nature affects brain activities; 
  • how robots could simulate visitors’ walks in the park by collecting data on the experience; 
  • smart benches to enjoy the garden and take pictures; 
  • the Local Landscape Observatory of Castellana and its new headquarters presented with the support of AR headset; 
  • the new visual information system for tourists and citizens.

Two solo musical performances were carried out by musicians from the Agostino Steffani Conservatory of Castelfranco Veneto.

In the latter part of the afternoon, attendees were invited inside Villa Revedin Bolasco to gain learn more about the co-design approach of VARCITIES, and how it has enabled the involved organizations, particularly the municipality, to familiarize themselves with the various perspectives of the engaged stakeholders and citizens. Future steps and activities, such as the GoNature game and the Health & Wellbeing platform, were showcased through dedicated videos that played throughout the afternoon.

To conclude the event, participants were treated to a final concert by musicians from the Agostino Steffani Conservatory!
