On Monday, March 25, 2024, the 18th Competition of primary school first aid teams took place at VARCITIES’ Pilot site in Novo Mesto, Novo Mesto’s Olympic Centre. The event saw the participation of ten teams from nine schools from the Dolenjska and Posavje regions!

The teams tested their theoretical understanding of first aid procedures and their knowledge of the the history of the Red Cross. Putting their practical first aid skills to the test, they assisted individuals involved in accidents both at the swimming pool, within home settings, and during bicycle training sessions. In each scenario, the teams successfully rescued two victims. This underscores the significance of possessing first aid expertise, highlighting how this knowledge equips young individuals with the ability to potentially save or contribute to saving lives—an invaluable lesson they carry with them throughout their lives!

Through this activity facilitated by VARCITIES, the aim of our aim Pilot team in Novo Mesto is to raise awareness about the significance of fundamental first aid knowledge among young individuals, fostering safer and more responsible conduct in their daily lives. At the same, we aimto underscore the value of initiatives dedicated to advocating for a healthy and secure lifestyle within local communities, to improve the health and well-being of residents.
